This is my Story

For 21 years, I lived as a Buddhist monk in the Thai Forest Tradition.

My journey began in Thailand, where I was ordained in 1998 under the revered master Luangphor Sangvahn Khemmako. My early years were spent in solitary retreat under his guidance, learning the depths of meditation and self-discovery. After five years, I moved to a mountain in Thailand and lived as a solitary monk in the forest, deeply connected to nature and the teachings of the Buddha.

After a decade in robes, I traveled to India...

Walking the pilgrimage routes of the Buddhist holy sites and exploring the sacred places of the Himalayas. These experiences shaped my understanding of inner peace and wisdom. Eventually, I settled in Hungary, where I established the Brightheart Meditation Center. Here, nestled in the vineyards and next to a forest, I now live as a hermit.

My center is a place for authentic meditation retreats and guidance

I teach others to cultivate peace and wisdom in a simple, affordable way. My journey has brought me to this point, and I’m passionate about sharing these ancient practices with others seeking clarity and tranquility in their lives.

I help others because I’ve experienced firsthand the profound transformation that meditation and solitude can bring.

I’ve learned how inner peace and wisdom can completely change one’s perspective on life. Establishing the Brightheart Meditation Center allows me to share these practices with others who are seeking clarity, peace, and purpose. My journey taught me the importance of passing on these ancient teachings, and I’m passionate about making them accessible and affordable to those who are ready to embark on their own path to self-discovery.

I’m Finnbarr, a meditation guide and the creator of the Brightheart Community.
